AI and Data Processing

Our service uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized meal plans and recipes. When you use our AI features:

• Your dietary preferences, nutritional goals, and meal planning requests are processed by OpenAI's GPT model
• AI-generated content is created based on your specific inputs and stored in our database
• We may use your usage patterns to improve our AI algorithms and recipe generation
• Your data is processed in accordance with OpenAI's privacy policy and our data protection measures

Instacart Integration

Our service integrates with Instacart to provide convenient grocery shopping for your meal plans:

• Shopping List Sharing: When you use the Instacart feature, your shopping list data (item names, quantities, and meal plan information) is shared with Instacart to create a personalized shopping experience.
• Data Processing: Instacart processes your shopping data according to their privacy policy and terms of service.
• Third-Party Service: Instacart is a third-party service, and we are not responsible for their data practices or service availability.
• Opt-Out: You can choose not to use the Instacart integration feature at any time.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties except:

• AI Service Providers: We share your meal planning requests with OpenAI to generate personalized recipes and meal plans.
• Instacart Integration: When you use our Instacart shopping feature, we share your shopping list data with Instacart to create a personalized shopping experience. This includes item names, quantities, and meal plan information.
• Authentication Providers: We use Google, Twitter/X, and Facebook OAuth for user authentication. These providers may receive certain information as part of the authentication process.
• Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party vendors that help us operate our platform, including Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting and analytics), and Google Analytics.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred.
• Subscription Management: We share necessary information with Stripe to process payments and manage your subscription.

Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy:

• Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion
• Meal Plans: Stored according to your subscription tier (free users: 2 plans, premium: unlimited)
• Shopping Lists: Stored to enable Instacart integration and improve shopping recommendations
• Usage History: Retained for service improvement and subscription management
• AI Generation Data: Stored to improve our service and track usage limits
• Instacart Integration Data: Usage data for Instacart features is retained for service optimization

When you delete your account, your personal data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:

• Secure HTTPS connections and encrypted data transmission
• Database security through Supabase with role-based access controls
• Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
• Regular security updates and monitoring
• Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

Subscription and Payment Data

When you subscribe to our premium service:

• Payment information is processed securely by Stripe and is not stored on our servers
• We store subscription status, billing history, and account limits
• Usage tracking helps us enforce subscription limits and provide customer support
• You can manage your subscription and payment methods through our customer portal

Your Rights

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through your account settings. Here's how:

1. Sign in to your account and navigate to your Dashboard
2. Click the "Settings" button in the top-right corner
3. Scroll down to the "Danger Zone" section
4. Click the "Delete Account" button
5. Type "DELETE MY ACCOUNT" in the confirmation field
6. Click "Delete Account" to permanently delete your account

Once deleted, your account and all associated data (including meal plans, preferences, and usage history) will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that your data receives adequate protection through appropriate safeguards.
